SOLDERING COURSE OUTLINE

Learn How To Solder Cleanly and Neatly!

For the enthusiastic hobbyist in you who is curious about how to create your own electronics from scratch, there will come a time when, in every project, you will have to merge two metal surfaces together. Solder is the “magical glue” that makes it happen. Solder can also be a frustrating mess if you do not know how to work with it cleanly and neatly. Don’t forget, a sloppy soldering job will mean that the project you have been putting your heart into might end up not working.

Come join us and learn all about:

1. The Basics: How to solder for best functionality as well as aesthetics
2. The Materials: Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Electronic Components (capacitors, resistors, LEDs, microcontrollers, sockets, etc.).
3. Component Leads: DIP-type, multi-leaded, flatpack and other planar-mounted components, etc.
4. Add Components to the PCB: “How To” solder and Safety Tips!
5. Check Connections: Learn the importance of directing electricity where you want it
6. Cut the Lead: Avoid potential short circuits
7. Join Wire to Wire: Fuse wires and learn how to secure proper connection
8. Cleaning Tips: Does and Don’ts
9. Supplies: What to buy if you want to set up shop at home

When: April 10, 2018 and you need extra time, you’ll be more than welcome to join us and complete your project on April 17, 2018, 6:30-9:00pm.
